Cornucopia House invites you to join our group of volunteers by contributing your time and talents. Please email our Resource/Volunteer Coordinator at chresources@mindpsring.com or phone (919)-401-9333. Every volunteer role is vital to the success of the organization. The following are areas where volunteers assist at Cornucopia House.
Office Assistants: Volunteers do a variety of light secretarial/receptionist duties. Some commit to a specific day/time when they function in this role. Others serve as back ups to be called when one of the office volunteers is unable to fill his/her designated time.
Time commitment: Weekly designated time = 2 ½-3 hours
Back up = Same as above
Helping at Community Events: Tables are staffed by Cornucopia House volunteers at events such as Health Fairs where relevant information is handed out and questions answered about our facility.
Time Commitment: Varies with each event, usually a 1 ½ -2 hour shift.
Host/Hostess: An educational forum is given once a month at Cornucopia House. Volunteers greet the attendees, have them sign in, or complete a contact sheet if it is their first visit to the facility. The host/hostess assists the staff person and presenter as needed.
Time Commitment: Usually 3 hours on the first Tuesday evening of each month. (6:30-9:30 p.m)
Hospitality: Volunteers offer to provide food as needed for various gatherings. They are responsible for the snacks at the monthly educational forums and at other times throughout the year.
Time Commitment: The time to obtain, bake, or cook the items and deliver them to Cornucopia House.
Major Fund Raising Events: There are two major fund raisers each year. The first is is A Chocolate Affaire which is traditionally held on the Sunday afternoon prior to Valentine’s Day. The second, Twilight at the Oasis, is held in the fall. Volunteers can be a part of the planning committees for these fund raisers, or help with various tasks prior to, on the day of, and/or after each of these events.

Speakers: Volunteers are trained to speak to organizations within the community to raise their awareness of Cornucopia House.

Board Member: The board is the governing body of the organization. It establishes the mission and sets the policies that define how Cornucopia House functions. The board focuses on the big picture issues that are critical to the future of the organization.

Volunteer Information
Mission: To provide a nurturing environment where patients, families, and others can gather to share and receive support, resources, and education to cope with cancer.
Cornucopia House is extremely dependent upon the efforts of dedicated volunteer team members. The team is managed by Volunteer Coordinators who are the liaison between the Cornucopia Staff and volunteers. Together, the staff and coordinators work to provide a positive and productive experience for volunteers. All work to enhance the services provided at Cornucopia House to cancer patients, survivors, and their families and caregivers.
