Dear Colleagues and Friends of Cornucopia House,
We have some exciting news. Our search committee has worked diligently during the last few months reviewing resumes and interviewing a number of qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director for Cornucopia House. We are pleased to announce that Mary Lawrence will become the Executive Director of Cornucopia House at the end of April 2008.
In addition to the many existing strengths of Cornucopia House, we face many challenges including continuing and expanding key services to people touched by cancer, working more effectively with our many volunteers, growing the organization to meet these opportunities, and raising the funds to make all of this possible.
Mary Lawrence, a native of Cleveland and currently residing in Chicago, is a talented non-profit executive. In Illinois, during her tenure as President and CEO of Big Brothers and Big Sisters, an organization very similar in size to Cornucopia House, she fostered the development of a new vision for the organization that increased services and community visibility. She also doubled the agency's revenues. Previously, she has been the Executive Director of La Leche League International and has worked as a consultant to leaders in nonprofit organizations and hospitals in the areas of volunteerism, governance, community relations and communications. With these and other experiences behind her, we feel Mary has the skills and leadership ability that we need.
When she begins in late April, please feel free to drop by the office to welcome her to Cornucopia House and the greater Triangle community.

At this time of transition, we are re-evaluating this staff position to ensure that we efficiently and effectively organizing our staff resources to meet the needs of our participants.
The search to fill this position is currently on hold.
10-15 hours per week. Responsibilities include recruiting and managing volunteers; staffing and managing cancer library/resource center; as well as interacting with participants and the public in general in person and on the telephone. Good communication and people skills essential. Occassional evening and weekend hours. Experience with cancer journey helpful.
